Daughter s Day!

Couple of days ago, I called my Dad and cribbed. "You dint wish me for Daughter's day. Boo Hoo" I was throwing tantrums. But honestly, it dint warrant one.

July 1st was celebrated as Daughter's day in India. We would have by now heard of a Mother's day, Father's day and now Daughter's day. Sadly, there is no Son's day as yet. Well, if any of you who are reading this post is aware of one, please do let me know.

Decades ago, the second Sunday in May was declared as Mother's day in the US. To balance out, there was this third Sunday in June which was declared as Father's day. Now, 1st July which happens to be Kalpana Chawla's is declared as Daughter's day. All this days involves gift-giving, Special dinners and family oriented Activities.

But honestly, do we need a separate day to be declared in the system technically as Mother's day to tell your Mama "I love you"? A Father's day to tell him "Daddy you are the best"? A Daughter's day to tell her "Honey, we love you"? Anything that has to come naturally, why are defining a "process" for it? Why are we formalizing relationships?

Good one.. This is what I call it theorizing life.. Defining it, defining rules, defining time for it, adding Dos and Don'ts..
